Beats you play, not program
A DAW is built to arrange. It wants a project, armed tracks, a mouse and a screen. That is overkill when all you want is a groove out of the gear on your desk. Open Miditrax and you are already making beats. Hit a fill with a button, not a menu.
A live sequencing surface
See your whole pattern in one view and sculpt it while it plays. Every lane does far more than on or off, with notes, velocity, ratchet, gate, pitch, octave, chance, timing and length. Build up to eight patterns per beat, each with its own fill, and a touch of chance keeps the groove from ever feeling robotic.
Beats on tap
Start from a growing library of beats, or a blank grid. Pick a style and a density, hit Generate, and keep rolling until one clicks. Then push it with Variation, Cymbals and Percussion, and fire fills on demand. It all stays live: nudge a slider, fire a fill, queue the next pattern at the bar.
It speaks in kick and snare
Pick a map (General MIDI, a hardware drum machine, or a plugin like Addictive Drums or Studio Drummer) and the grid lays itself out for the kit you are actually playing. Your beat thinks in Kick, Snare and Hat, not CC 36, so the same groove jumps from your 909 to a VST and still sounds like itself.
Made to play live
Miditrax has clock. Sync your gear, then perform. Map on-screen controls to a MIDI controller (a Stream Deck, say), switch patterns and fire fills on the fly, all at the press of a button.
