Windows Driver for MK3 Controller Screens
On Windows everything works the moment you plug in, with the exception of the two LCD screens. They need a driver installed, which is a separate download and install.
Download
Only for Windows, and only for the MK3 (not needed for the MK2, Mikro MK3 or Mikro MK2).
Do you need it?
Only to enable the screens. If you are happy playing from the pads with the beat on your computer you can skip it, but frankly, it’s the best bit!
Important to know: when you install the driver, if you still use the controller’s original software, it still works except for the screens. The driver app also has an option to remove the driver and switch back to the original. It’s a simple one-click process.
Install
Takes about two minutes. Close Miditrax and any other music software that uses the controller first, and have the controller plugged in.
Run the Midifex Driver app and follow the instructions. You will be asked for a Windows permission to make the change: allow it. You might be asked to restart your computer, but just select Restart Later and the app will ask you to unplug and replug your controller to check everything is working.
Uninstall
Takes about two minutes. Close Miditrax and any other music software that uses the controller first, and unplug the controller.
Run the Midifex Driver app and follow the instructions. You will be asked for a Windows permission to make the change: allow it. You might be asked to restart your computer, but just select Restart Later. The app will tell you when it is done, and you can plug your controller back in.
What it changes on your computer
The MK3 presents its two screens to Windows as their own USB part, separate from the pads and buttons. The driver connects Windows’ own built-in USB driver to that one part and nothing else. The pads, buttons, and the controller’s firmware update connection are not touched.
Some antivirus software notices a driver install and asks about it. Allowing it is safe; if your computer is managed by a company and refuses the install, the pads still work without the screens.
